Bonner County commissioners approved a contract to survey proposed lease lots at Sandpoint Airport so the county can lease sites where tenants will build hangars, county staff said.
Dave Shook, speaking for the airport, told commissioners the lots being surveyed would be leased to tenants who construct hangars that revert to county title at lease expiration; the county can then lease hangars at higher rates than raw land. Staff estimated revenue when leased at approximately $60,000 per year and said the survey is estimated to cost about $12,000.
The expense was not specifically budgeted for FY2025, but staff said savings in repairs and maintenance nav-equipment budget lines could cover the cost. Commissioners questioned whether sufficient remaining repairs and maintenance funds existed for the fiscal year; airport staff confirmed funds were available.
A motion to enter the contract for surveying lease lots and authorize the chair to sign administratively passed by roll call.
