Bonner County commissioners approved a professional services agreement with HDR Engineers to design repairs to the Merit Bridge, the county's longest bridge, officials said.
Staff told the board the overall project is estimated at about $4.66 million and includes pile-wrap corrosion protection, repairs to cracked pilings, concrete deck repair, and an epoxy overlay of the driving surface. The county will provide a 7.34% match on total project costs and pay design invoices up front; the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will reimburse the county 92.66% of invoiced costs.
Staff selected HDR through a qualifications-based process and said the county has budgeted for the local match needed for the design phase. Commissioners discussed cash-flow arrangements and confirmed the county has funds set aside for such pass-through payments.
A motion to approve the professional services agreement for project A024 (key number 24620) with HDR Engineers for design of Merit Bridge repairs passed by roll call.
