The Syracuse City Planning Commission on Sept. 2 approved a revised site plan for a commercial building on Lot 3A of the Atlanta Antelope Station Subdivision at 1604 South 3000 West.
City planning staffer Bryce told the commission the updated submission addressed prior comments and recommended approval. “All the staff comments have been addressed,” Bryce said, and staff recommended the commission approve the revised plan.
The revised plan removes a previously shown drive-through, increases landscaping along the south side and slightly enlarges the building footprint compared with the earlier approval. Bryce said the plan includes a side connection to allow cross-access between this parcel and the adjacent lot so future drive-through traffic could use a shared access; he described that change as a forward-looking design to reduce potential traffic conflicts.
Bryce also noted that any exterior walkways required by fire code — for example, where fire risers or doorways are located — remain shown on the plan. When a commissioner asked about exterior wall lighting that appears in some depictions, planning staff clarified that the lighting would be full-cutoff fixtures recessed in the building awning and directed downward, not upward as some renderings show. The plan also shows bicycle parking retained from the previous submission.
One commissioner announced a recusal on the record; the transcript does not identify that commissioner by name. After discussion, Commissioner Anderson moved to approve the revised site plan as presented; Commissioner Garner seconded. The commission approved the motion by a voice vote. The meeting record shows the motion was adopted; no roll-call tally was recorded.
The commission’s approval covers the site plan as revised and does not, per the record, change any prior conditions of approval beyond the updated landscaping, building footprint and cross-access shown on the plan. Next steps are standard for approved site plans: addressing any final submittal requirements and completing any administrative steps required before building permits are issued.
The public hearing on the item was opened and closed with no public comments recorded.
