At its September 2025 meeting, the Millington Municipal School Board voted to request $250,000 from the City of Millington to mill and repave the parking lot at Millington Primary School.
The resolution, described by a city staff member as a city allocation, was presented at the meeting. "This right here is gonna be, the city has set aside $250,000 for capital, facilities improvements to our school district," the staff member said. Board members were told the project will be put out for bid and that any cost above the $250,000 would be covered from the district's capital budget this year.
Board members discussed coordinating with the city's public works paving project to seek volume pricing; a board member said staff would "get with the public works and see if we can't group all this together and get a better volume price on it." The board approved the resolution by roll call.
Votes at the meeting were recorded as follows: Barbara Halliburton — Aye; Amanda Compton — Aye; Chris Denson — Aye; Debbie Clifton — Aye; Barbara Gray — Aye; Cody Childress — Aye. The motion passed.
The board did not specify a construction schedule at the meeting. The resolution directs staff to put the repaving out for competitive bid; final contract award and any amount exceeding $250,000 would be subject to district capital budget availability and further administrative action.
No specific contractor or bid timeline was provided during the meeting.
