School Committee approves block of policies on second reading; JJ IB pulled for separate consideration

Members discussed whether coaches could make unilateral decisions to forfeit a game, or whether that decision should be coordinated with an athletic director. Committee members said the district's current practice is for coaches to consult the athletic director, and referees or umpires approved by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) may also cancel contests if safety concerns arise.
After discussion, the committee voted on JJ IB (second reading) separately; the policy was approved by voice vote. The meeting record did not contain a roll-call tally with named yes/no votes.
The committee also approved disposal of an obsolete 3D printer (model AF173D) in a separate administrative action and heard updates about facilities and fields.
