Braintree council confirms Nicholas Campia to Conservation Commission

The Town of Braintree Town Council unanimously approved Mayor Joyce’s appointment of Nicholas Campia to the Conservation Commission during its Sept. 2 meeting at Town Hall.

Councilor Bridal reported that the committee on ways and means met earlier and recommended the appointment with a unanimous favorable recommendation. The chief of staff introduced Campia to the council before the vote.

Nicholas Campia, the mayor’s nominee, told the council he is a licensed mechanical and fire protection engineer with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire and said he would apply his professional skills to conservation issues. “I’m passionate about conservation, and I think that I would be a good fit for the role,” Campia said.

Councilor Flaherty thanked Campia and also recognized the other appointee present at the meeting, saying volunteers on commissions do “very, very important” work for the town. A motion to approve Campia’s appointment, citing sections 2-10 and 3-3 of the town charter, passed by unanimous voice vote.

Campia will serve on the Conservation Commission; the council did not specify a term end date in the discussion recorded in the transcript.
