Braintree council appoints William Cash to Tree Committee

The Town of Braintree Town Council unanimously approved Mayor Joyce’s appointment of William Cash to the Tree Committee for a two-year term at its Sept. 2 meeting.

The appointment was sent forward with a unanimous favorable recommendation from the council’s committee on ways and means and approved on a voice vote during the meeting at Town Hall.

William Cash, introduced to the council by the chief of staff as the mayor’s nominee, told the council he is a lifelong Braintree resident, the fourth generation to live on his current property, and operates a landscaping business with prior nursery experience. “I figured put my name in to further serve my community,” Cash said. He also noted service as a 21-year volunteer with the fire department.

Councilor Barica, chairwoman of the committee on ways and means, told the full council the committee met earlier and recommended approval. Councilor Reynolds said he “fully endorse[s]” the appointment and praised Cash’s reputation in landscaping and commitment to maintaining Braintree’s trees.

A councilor moved approval under the procedures referenced in the motion, which cited sections 2-10 and 3-3 of the town charter. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

Cash was congratulated by the council after the vote and will serve a two-year term on the Tree Committee.
