The Post Falls City Council on Sept. 2 authorized an amendment to the design contract for the Guy Road lift station decommissioning and related gravity sewer work to add limited services and finalize certain design details.
Jackson Fleshman, project manager for the city, told the council the work covers decommissioning the Guy Road lift station, gravity sewer from that location to the Fisher Lift Station, a future gravity line from Fisher up Chase Road to Prairie, connections for a future Fisher Lift Station, and coordination with East Green Acres Irrigation District (EGID). Fleshman said the Chase Road trunk-line design was reprioritized to a later date and that the amendment addresses coordination, disturbance limits and several additional design details.
Financials and schedule - Original design contract approved previously was about $450,000 with a $25,000 management reserve; additional services already approved for survey work used part of the contingency. - The amendment approved at the meeting is for $5,100 in net additions after deducting credits; the remaining contingency after the amendment was stated as $17,900. - Staff said bid-ready documents are expected this winter, with planned bidding in winter into spring and a projected spring 2026 construction start.
Questions and site disposition - Councilor questions included what would happen to the physical parcel where the decommissioned lift station sits. Public Works Director John Beech said disposition depends on property status: if the station sits on an easement, the easement could be vacated to adjacent owners; if on a parcel, the city could declare it surplus and auction it or retain it for other infrastructure uses.
Council action - A motion to approve the additional services for the Guy Road lift-station decommissioning and gravity sewer project passed on roll call.
