Lindon named an official JustServe city; volunteers and staff to expand service projects

Representatives from JustServe.org presented Lindon City with an official JustServe City certificate during the council’s presentations and announcements. Tom and Jane Fox, serving as local JustServe specialists, told the council Lindon met the criteria for the designation and encouraged the city to expand volunteer opportunities and to pursue a global JustServe City award in the future.
City staff and council members said parks-and-recreation activities and an upcoming day of service illustrate the city’s existing volunteer coordination. City Administrator Adam Cowie and parks-and-rec staff described current programs (including a day-of-service on Sept. 13 and a coordinated list of volunteer projects such as assembling school kits, sewing comfort items and trail work) and said they will continue to work with JustServe to promote events and opportunities tied to the designation. The council accepted the certificate and invited the JustServe representatives to participate in a photo with council members.
The JustServe designation will be used in outreach for the city’s day-of-service and related volunteer events; staff asked councilmembers to help publicize volunteer opportunities and assist with citywide events when available.
