Riverdale Police Chief Warren introduced and swore in Officer Caleb Montez at the City Council meeting on Sept. 2.
Chief Warren said the department reviewed about 80 applications and conducted multiple backgrounds before selecting Montez to replace Mike McNeely. “We searched pretty hard for him. He's replacing Mike McNeely... we went through dozens and dozens of interviews and applications, probably about 80 applications,” the chief said.
Officer Montez spoke briefly after being sworn in and said he served four years in the Army (one year deployed to Iraq) and holds a bachelor’s degree from Utah Tech (formerly Southern Utah University). Councilors and the mayor welcomed him and recognized family members in the audience.
