The Saratoga Springs City Council on Sept. 2 approved its first budget amendment for fiscal year 2025–26, moving funds to update an interlocal contract with Bluffdale and setting aside money for pedestrian and fire facility work.
City staff said the amendment updates the Bluffdale contract, which is usually finalized later than the city’s budget, and earmarks money for a crosswalk on 400 South, remodeling of the North Fire Station and initial design and planning for a prospective third fire station.
The council opened a public hearing on the amendment but received no public comments before voting. Councilman Wheldon moved approval; Councilwoman Barton seconded. The council voted unanimously to adopt the amendment.
Council discussion during the hearing was limited to confirming the crosswalk location; staff corrected a typographical note indicating the crosswalk would be on 400 South rather than 400 North. No dollar totals for the individual line items were provided in the hearing record.
Actions recorded at the meeting show the amendment was presented as “public hearing item number 1” on the agenda and was approved by unanimous vote. Staff indicated that the Bluffdale contract update is a recurring adjustment handled in the first budget amendment when Bluffdale’s budget information arrives after the city’s budget is adopted.
The amendment’s passage gives staff authority to proceed with the planning and initial design work identified in the amendment; follow-up reports or formal appropriations beyond what was described were not specified at the hearing.
