Le Mars council approves two service agreement amendments for industrial park design work

The Le Mars City Council approved two amendments to professional services agreements affecting the city—s industrial infrastructure.
Council approved an amendment to the services agreement with ISG to add design work for 1,080 feet of rail across the Lamar's Industrial Park. Administration recommended approval, noting the rail design had been omitted from the original contract; the amendment carries a not-to-exceed amount of $27,080.
Separately, the council approved amendment number 1 to the professional services agreement with Bolton & Menk for the industrial pretreatment facility design with a not-to-exceed fee of $119,000. Administration said the amendment was needed because of additional coordination time required to complete plans and specifications and added structural design work.
Both amendments were moved, seconded and approved by the council during the meeting. No contract awards beyond the amendments were made at the meeting. Council members did not record any conditions or changes to the scope beyond the language in the amendments as read into the record.
Staff said construction and site work related to the industrial park (including the awarded rail extension contract) are anticipated to begin in mid-September and that most materials are already on site.
