Committee forwards $125,000 appropriation to continue county partnership with Hawaiian Community Assets

Housing Administrator Kejel Acosta said the county partners with Hawaiian Community Assets, a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-certified counseling and homebuyer program, to provide no-cost financial counseling and homeownership education. The program is available to the public and county employees and is used by the county’s Section 8 and family self-sufficiency programs to support participants working toward housing stability and homeownership.
Council members asked for program-use statistics; Acosta said the housing department would provide emailed statistics on the number of families served.
The committee moved to forward Bill 76 to council; the clerk recorded eight ayes with one member absent.
