The Local Alcoholic Beverage Board of Marion County handled a large docket of new applications and renewals on Sept. 2. Most routine renewals and new permits were approved by voice vote; several renewals that carried violations were approved with conditions, continuances or other notes.
Routine approvals - Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar (5664 Crawfordsville Road) — motion to approve carried. - Multiple Aldi locations — renewals approved. - Flying Squirrel LLC (5748 Crawfordsville Road) — renewal approved. - VFW 7119 (6525 N. Lee Road) — renewal approved. - All Moms Love (247 S. Meridian) — new beer-and-wine restaurant permit approved; owner testified she will card patrons and provide staff training. - MIA 21 (Shoya revolving sushi) and other new restaurants — approvals granted subject to inspection and zoning documentation where required.
Renewals with violations and follow-up - D and D Luger Inc. (Sports Page Lounge, 4603 N. Post Road) — renewal approved with one-year probation after violations including service to an intoxicated person and service outside the approved floor plan. - Oceanaire Seafood Room (30 S. Meridian) — one-year renewal approved after settlement of excise violations; board noted lingering concerns and scheduled monitoring. - Multiple stores and restaurants failed compliance stings or had paperwork lapses; in many cases the board accepted retraining, employee discipline (term, suspension or retraining) and vendor/system fixes (for point-of-sale issues).
Continued or remanded matters - Moon Bar (148 E. Market St.) — continued to Oct. 6 after remonstrance; counsel said IMPD records were produced the morning of the hearing and requested time to review. - Several items were continued because applicants lacked required documents (tax clearance, posted signage or zoning affidavits) and will return with complete paperwork.
Board procedure President Tyler Graves and board representatives for Speedway (Robert Staten), Lawrence (Jim Hennigan) and Indianapolis (Peter Luster) handled the docket. Officer Amy Sounier administered oaths and advised applicants about required filing and inspection steps for new or transfer permits.
The board moved quickly through routine renewals with little discussion; items requiring additional evidence, proof of zoning or evidence of remediation were held or continued. Several owners were instructed to provide floor-plan changes, employee-permit records, or to schedule inspections before their licenses become active.
