Seguin-area residents urge county to keep 3 Oaks Road a county road, present signatures opposing extension

Nancy Brewington, a Seguin resident, told the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court during the public comment portion of its Sept. 2 meeting that a planned road extension on 3 Oaks Road would encroach on her property and dozens of neighboring lots.
Brewington said her garage doors sit approximately 49 feet from the center of the existing county road and that engineering specifications provided by the city of Seguin show a proposed cross width of 90 feet. She said that would bring the new roadway edge within roughly 4 feet of her garage doors and would remove mature landscaping and trees about 10 feet from the existing road edge. She told the court the development would also affect a neighboring tract owned by Chesmar Homes and argued the road should remain a county road as it was when residents bought their properties in the 1970s.
Brewington said residents had collected more than 500 local signatures opposing the 3 Oaks extension and that they intend to present those signatures at a future meeting. Commissioners took the comment as part of the public-comment period; no vote on the Seguin plan was recorded during the Sept. 2 court session.
Why it matters: If the road extension proceeds with a wider right-of-way, property owners along 3 Oaks Road could lose portions of front yards, mature trees and privacy buffers. Brewington emphasized generational attachment to lake-area properties near Lake McQueeney.
Ending: Brewington said residents will present petition signatures at a future meeting and requested the county preserve the existing county-road designation for 3 Oaks Road.
