A staff presenter described proposed action to extend the annexation agreement between the towns of Wake Forest and Youngsville. The current agreement was initiated in February 2007 and, under the usual 20-year initial term, is approaching expiration.
Staff said the proposed extension would continue the existing boundary lines and add 10 years to the agreement; no boundary changes are proposed. The agreement area runs from the Wake/Franklin County border north to Capitol Boulevard and includes areas near Mason Oaks and Del Webb Traditions, the presenter said. Town staff told the board they will seek approval to set a public hearing in October; Youngsville is following a similar schedule.
Commissioners had no substantive objections during the briefing; staff will bring the proposed extension to the September agenda to set the required public hearing in October.
Ending: The board will consider a motion at its September meeting to set a public hearing for the annexation-agreement extension in October.
