Council approves parking-system financing, city-hall lighting, asbestos abatement, traffic camera unit and sweeper parts

Birmingham City Council members approved five measures during their Sept. 2 meeting after brief discussion on several items removed from the consent agenda.

The items approved included a revised equipment finance amount for municipal-court parking upgrades, a contract for City Hall exterior lighting, an asbestos-abatement contract needed to clear several demolition projects, purchase of a second portable traffic video-collection unit, and a one-year purchase arrangement for street-sweeper parts. Each item passed by voice vote after council questions and staff responses.
