Board approves student readmission and personnel actions; superintendent evaluation tabled

The Accomack County School Board approved a student readmission, accepted personnel and volunteer lists and tabled the superintendent evaluation to the next meeting.
During public session on Sept. 2 the Accomack County School Board approved a readmission case, accepted a personnel list pending paperwork and approved a volunteer list; the superintendent’s evaluation was tabled to the board’s Sept. 16 meeting.
Board members voted to approve readmission case number OO9022501; a motion to approve the readmission was made and seconded and the board voted in favor. Later in the meeting, following a closed session and subsequent certification that the closed meeting complied with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, the board moved to approve the personnel list as amended with final approval contingent on submission of required paperwork. The volunteer list was also approved as amended.
The board voted to table the superintendent’s evaluation until the next meeting, Sept. 16. Several personnel motions were handled in closed session as permitted under the Code of Virginia; the board certified that only matters identified in the motion to convene closed session were discussed as allowed by law.
