Council approves multiple site plans, specific-use permits and sign decisions; several items tabled to Oct. 7

The Southlake City Council approved multiple planning and zoning items on Tuesday night, including site plans, an encroachment agreement, specific-use permits and sign variances. Council handled the items largely as a group and recorded votes or tablings on several separate motions.

Key approvals and outcomes (Votes at a glance): - Colby Building site plan and encroachment agreement (1480 W. Kirkwood Blvd.): approved 7-0. The council approved the site plan (item 6A) and an encroachment and joint-use agreement to allow a raised curb and concrete driveway to occupy a portion of a 15-foot drainage easement (item 6B). Director Dennis Kilo presented the plans and the applicant (Skip Blake) told council the design had been modified with staff to reduce impacts.

- Specific-use permit for an accessory building at 1947 E. Continental Blvd. (Case EA25-0038, item 6C): approved 7-0 subject to the applicant moving the building to a minimum 10-foot south setback and installing evergreen screening (council-approved Option A). Applicant George Johnson said the structure is used for storage and the council noted the owner's representation that it is temporary.
