Planning commission recommends rezoning to allow urgent-care veterinary clinic on Hoover Road

The Grove City Planning Commission voted to recommend that City Council rezone property on Hoover Road to C-2 to permit an urgent-care veterinary facility.
City planner (staff) explained the application would change zoning on 3612 and 3614 Hoover Road from PSO to C-2 to accommodate an urgent-care veterinarian. Staff said the proposed use is similar to existing permitted medical-office uses and noted the site’s lot size limits the scale of potential C-2 uses. After review, staff recommended the commission forward the rezoning request to City Council.
A representative of the applicant (address cited during the meeting) told the commission the proposed clinic would operate as an urgent-care veterinary practice, primarily for dogs and cats, and would not provide overnight boarding or hospitalization. The representative said hours would be within a 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. schedule and that patients would typically be in and out within about an hour.
There were no public objections recorded during the meeting. Commissioners voted to recommend approval and recorded affirmative votes from Commissioners Wendlinger, Farnsworth and Titus on the motion to forward the rezoning request to City Council.
The item will proceed to City Council for a public hearing and final zoning decision.
