Grayson County moves funds to implement statutory pay increase for County Court judges

County staff explained that the pay increase was enacted by the state legislature and that county court at law judges are paid by the county, while district judges are paid by the state. Because the county is responsible for county court at law judge pay, the court approved a transfer of available funds to effect the increase beginning Sept. 1.
Commissioners moved and seconded the budget transfer, which carried unanimously. The amount to be transferred was not stated aloud during the meeting; the county indicated the transfer would move available funds to cover the statutory increase.
The court recorded no further debate and proceeded to the next item.
