Glenn Heights approves Purdue Pharma settlement participation forms; payments expected to be small

The Glenn Heights City Council approved two resolutions authorizing the city manager to submit an electronic ballot and a participation-and-release form related to the proposed thirteenth amended joint chapter 11 plan of Purdue Pharma LP and affiliated debtors.
City Attorney David Berman told the council the items are routine for municipalities participating in national opioid settlements. He noted the city has already received approximately $11,000 in prior distributions and said the proposed actions authorize participation in the latest plan and full release of related claims. Berman cautioned the amounts will be small for smaller jurisdictions and said, “If we don't do it, we don't get the money.”
Council approved Resolution R‑29‑25 and Resolution R‑30‑25 by unanimous voice votes. No dollar amounts specific to the new distribution were stated in the meeting record.
Staff characterized the actions as ministerial steps required to participate in the settlements; the council authorized the city manager to execute required forms electronically.
