Commissioners received an update on Veterans Service Officer (VSO) staffing at the Veterans and Community Resource Center during the Aug. 27 meeting.
A staff member told the commission that a certified VA VSO is currently available at the center on Mondays for walk-ins and that the counselor is busy with initial claims. A separate candidate reported to the commission that he had passed his VA accreditation test and expected formal accreditation within two weeks; he offered to be available at the center regularly if needed.
Commissioners welcomed the additional capacity. Staff also said the Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) has been working to secure longer-term VSO coverage for the center. No formal action was taken; the item was an informational update.
