City planner Mr. Bridal told commissioners the application proposes to divide the existing lot into three lots ranging in size from approximately 80,000 square feet to almost 87,000 square feet and includes a variance to the city's connection-to-water-supply code. “This application also includes a variance to Title 13.12.065 … connection to water supply. Staff concurs with the applicant that there is not a feasible way to connect to the public water supply,” Mr. Bridal said.
Commissioners asked for clarification about why a connection to the public water system was not feasible; staff explained that although there is public water in the nearby development to the west, there is no easement to make the connection and a distribution connection would require running a water line to Second Street, which staff said may be a transmission line rather than a distribution line.
