Commission approves Verizon antenna replacement on existing monopole at 1598 Ragsdale Road

The Brentwood Planning Commission on Sept. 2 approved an application to remove unused Sprint equipment and install Verizon antennas and ground equipment on an existing monopole at 1598 Ragsdale Road.
City staff reported the installation would remove one unused Sprint mount and two Sprint antennas and replace them with one Verizon mount and 12 Verizon antennas. The proposal includes a new generator and equipment cabinets within the existing compound; staff said there would be no change to tower height or the existing lease area. Staff recommended approval subject to 12 standard requirements.
Abby Porter of Tower Engineering Professionals, the applicant’s representative, said the work primarily replaces inactive Sprint gear (Sprint has been incorporated into T‑Mobile) and will improve local Verizon coverage. Asked about timing, Porter said once approvals are final, crews typically complete this type of replacement in a matter of weeks to months. “Once the approval does come in, they try to get it done within the next upcoming months,” Porter said. Commissioners asked whether the work would affect existing T‑Mobile service; Porter said T‑Mobile service would not be affected.
A motion to approve the installation (agenda item BPC 2500-1598) passed on a voice vote. The motion was made by Commissioner Stadley and seconded by Commissioner Bade.
