San Patricio County officials told commissioners that the county received a $25,000,000 check from the GLO and brought the award to Commissioners Court for acknowledgement.
County staff who picked up the check were identified as Jessica Newman, Susan Botwell and John Hernandez. Judge (presiding officer) thanked the staff and said the funds will be used for multiple county projects and community needs. “I mean, this is gonna be a great, great asset here to the county. There's $25,000,000 that we did get,” the judge said during the meeting.
Officials said the award resulted from coordinated work across county departments and community partners. They listed several communities and projects as potential beneficiaries, and thanked departments for working together to secure the funds.
No formal appropriation or project-by-project allocations were adopted during the meeting. County staff indicated the funds will be used for local projects across the county and that departments will continue to coordinate on specific uses and next steps.
The acknowledgment at Commissioners Court did not include a motion to appropriate funds to specific projects. Staff indicated more detailed project lists and implementation steps will follow in future meetings and departmental planning.
