Parent and PFLAG commenter urge FCPS to require 'get to know you' forms to affirm names and pronouns

Peter Brim, who identified himself as representing PFLAG Frederick, asked the committee to include in policy 4‑43 language requiring teachers to use "get to know you" forms that "document affirm names and affirm pronouns." He said the practice already exists in some classrooms and recommended the policy use the word "shall" so teachers would be required to use the forms.
A second commenter, Lisonbee Rizzo (speaking as a parent during the same public‑comment block), also raised concerns about how charter and traditional schools handle fundraising; her comments informed the subsequent fundraising discussion.
Committee members did not adopt policy changes during the meeting; staff noted that public comment will be considered as policies return for further drafting and board review.
