The New College of Florida Board of Trustees ratified an updated collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) at the Aug. 27 meeting.
Staff described the terms as matching recent adjustments made for out‑of‑unit staff and the faculty union: a 2% increase to base hourly wages and a one‑time bonus equal to 2% of base salary. "This matches what this board did for the out of unit staff as well as the faculty, union with a 2% increase to base, hourly wages together with a 1 time bonus equal to 2% of their base salary," counsel said in presenting the ratification.
Trustee Harvey moved ratification and Trustee Karp seconded. The board took a voice vote and the chair announced the motion carried with no opposition.
Why it matters: the contract affects pay and benefits for represented classified employees at the college and aligns AFSCME wages with other staff and faculty adjustments approved earlier.
