Building permits rise; code enforcement focuses on weeds, parking, and debris, staff says

City staff reported construction and code-enforcement activity to the council, saying the town has issued 101 building permits for 2025 as of the latest report and that residential permits this year have been dominated by roof, deck and shed work.
"As of last week, we're up to a 101 building permits for 2025," Kyle said, noting most permits were for roofs, decks, sheds and house additions. He said new construction includes 12 single-family homes and two multifamily units.
Kyle described common code violations currently under follow-up: tall grass and weeds, debris or grass left on streets or sidewalks, parking on grass, rubbish and junk, exterior building deterioration and obstructive tree branches. He urged residents to report problem properties to City Hall so staff can investigate.
Council members asked whether staff use local Facebook groups to find complaints; Kyle replied the best method remains calling City Hall to report concerns so staff can respond.
The council approved the minutes of recent meetings with a correction to a misspelled name and then moved on to staff reports and adjournment.
