Tamworth schedules Brownfields community outreach sessions for Sept. 29–30; public input sought on reuse options for 374 Tamworth Road

Town officials announced a two-part community outreach process about the Brownfields property at 374 Tamworth Road. On Monday, Sept. 29, the town will host an on-site public session (4:30–7 p.m.) to gather input on possible reuses; Lakes Region Planning Commission and consultant Mark West will present maps and concept drawings and facilitate feedback. A follow-up presentation to the Select Board is scheduled for Sept. 30, when the consultant will present concepts informed by the public session.
Officials said the Brownfields process is fully funded by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) and managed by the Lakes Region Planning Commission. The purpose is to gather community input on possible future uses; no commitment to any specific use or to bonding/tax expenditures will be made at these sessions. The town plans to advertise the events, provide activities for children, and host a barbecue to encourage family attendance.
Town staff said they will perform some site maintenance in advance — trimming fallen trees and mowing — and will inspect buildings on the property to evaluate winter storage potential. The outreach session is part of the final planning steps; the consultant will incorporate community feedback into alternative plan mock-ups presented at the Sept. 30 Select Board meeting.
