Councilmembers voted Wednesday to advance a motion asking city departments to report on operational problems with the MyLA311 system and propose fixes to improve service delivery, data transparency and user experience.
Councilmember Monica Rodriguez, joined by Councilmember Lee as a co-presenter, said the modernization of MyLA311 must deliver on promises of accessibility and reliable data. Rodriguez said staff have reported malfunctioning GPS location data, difficulty accessing records, and cases recorded as “closed” when service remains outstanding.
"If MyLA311 is to remain one of the most important, most relied-upon services and digital platforms in our city, then we have to guarantee the transparency and the efficiency and user friendliness for both the public and our employees," Rodriguez said.
The motion asks relevant departments to return with a plan that addresses GPS reliability, better coordination between operations and enforcement, and data tools that allow the council and the public to verify service status. The council opened the roll and recorded votes on the calendar; the clerk later reported the disposition of consent and calendar items.
No specific contract changes, vendor names, or dollar figures were provided during the council floor discussion; the motion requests operational and technical fixes and additional reporting to the council.
