Council Orders Review of Street‑Sweeping Enforcement After Resident Complaints

Hernández asked departments to improve coordination, consider technology tests and review who is impacted by citations: “Al final, nuestros residentes merecen calles limpias y un sistema justo, no un sistema que los castiga por los problemas de falta de coordinación,” she said.
The motion requests specific information and remedies, including better coordination between sweepers and citation processes, testing technological solutions to verify actual sweep activity before issuing tickets and analysis of demographic impacts. Hernández said similar fixes are in place in other cities and urged the council to adopt proven approaches rather than “reinventar la rueda.”
The council clerk opened and closed the vote; the public roll-call in the transcript recorded a final tally of 15 in favor.
