The Los Angeles City Council confirmed Doménica Lynch as general manager in a unanimous vote during its Aug. 27 meeting, with the council recording 15 votes in favor.
Lynch, introduced during the meeting by Councilmember Jurado and the committee chair, described her background and vision at the dais: “Es una oportunidad para regresar y regresar esas memorias y hacer un lugar de pertenencia,” she said, and told colleagues she brings “25 años de experiencia construyendo coaliciones, trabajando con sectores en los diferentes sectores.”
The council chair opened the roll call after Lynch’s brief remarks; the secretary announced the vote as “15 a favor.” The nomination followed a committee review led by the council’s Arts, Parks and Libraries committee, which the meeting transcript indicates recommended the appointment for full-council consideration.
Council members did not record a roll-call recital of individual yes/no votes in the public transcript beyond the final tally. The meeting material indicated the item was set for special consideration and members moved to open the vote immediately after Lynch’s presentation.
The council also asked Lynch to speak directly to colleagues and community partners at the dais; in her remarks she referred to work with small-business leaders and coalition-building during the pandemic and with the Aspen Institute, and urged council members to engage with the commercial corridor she described as a place to “reenergizar al pueblo.”
No amendments or conditions were recorded with the appointment in the public transcript.
