Applicant John Steigerwald described repeated repairs to the existing landing and his plan to "rebuild the footprint as it was," restoring the original stairs set into the landing. He told the board he intends to use brick closely matched to the house exterior and a limestone surface for the landing and treads; he also said he will retain a remnant brick ribbon in front of the door.
Board members discussed dimensions and whether handrails would be required; Steigerwald and the board recorded that the proposed work would maintain an existing depth of about 3 feet 6 inches and that handrails were not required for the proposed height. The board confirmed that the project will use masonry and limestone and that the applicant supplied original blueprints and information from the Office of Historic Architecture (OHA) in the packet.
