Middletown official opens two bids for 7 King Street; no decision taken

Joe Massey, chairman of the finance committee, opened two proposals on behalf of the Middletown Board of Estimate for 7 King Street and referred the submissions to the city’s economic development office without taking formal action.

“We are not conducting any business, so we're allowed to have a board of estimate with only 1 member being myself, Joe Massey, chairman of finance committee,” Massey said at the start of the session, noting Mayor DeStefano and Council President Rodriguez were unavailable. The meeting was limited to opening and reading submitted concepts and qualifications.

Maria Bruni, director of economic development, read details from the two submissions. She identified one proposal from Frank Siena that included “purchase price terms … for 15,500” and a second from Denali Realty Ventures proposing an acquisition price of 100,000 for the property “as is.” Bruni also confirmed a signed noncollusive certification and that five copies of the proposal materials were provided.

Massey said there were no additional bids and that the packet would be referred to Bruni’s office for comment and follow-up. He noted there were no water or sewer notes recorded in the bid materials during the opening.

No motion, vote or contract award was reported at the session. The chairman closed the meeting after the openings and adjourned at 4:03 p.m.

The submissions will be considered and any next steps — such as requests for additional information or a formal recommendation — will come from the economic development office, according to the referral recorded at the opening.
