Reno County Area Transit honored as Kansas Public Transit Association transit service of the year

Reno County commissioners congratulated Reno County Area Transit (RCAT) staff on Aug. 27 after the program received the Kansas Public Transit Association’s transit service of the year award.
"We are very happy to be here today to provide this announcement of recognition for our RCAT transportation program," said Candice Monison of the Reno County Department on Aging and Public Transportation, who introduced transit staff. "We are very happy...and so to be recognized by the Kansas Public Transportation Association, this is, like, wonderful." Assistant director Natalie Gertzen, who accepted the recognition with drivers and operations staff, said the award reflects many years of work and thanked commissioners for support.
RCAT staff said they will post a rider survey on the Reno County website and social media to gather feedback and perception of service. Commissioners and presenters noted RCAT provides countywide service but that rural riders may need to plan trips in advance.
Ending: Commissioners invited residents to complete the upcoming transit survey and congratulated RCAT staff for the statewide recognition.
