Airport staff brief board on JSX public-charter proposal; formal proposal expected next month

Airport staff presented an information briefing on preliminary discussions with JSX, a public charter operator that has proposed using an ATR 42-600 turboprop to provide scheduled, public-charter flights from Truckee to markets in the Bay Area and Los Angeles Basin.

Rob, the airport general manager, said JSX is proposing up to one flight per day, four days per week, using an ATR 42-600 configured for up to 30 passengers. He emphasized that as a public charter the operator can legally fly to the airport without airport permission, but the airport’s role is whether to provide terminal space, parking, ground handling and other services. "As a public charter operator, they can come and fly now this airport without our consent. So it's about the facilities and service and support that we would offer them," Rob said.
