On Aug. 27, 2025, the Talawanda City School District Board of Education approved a financial agreement and an educational aid agreement with Saint Rita School for the Deaf for the 2025–26 school year.
The board moved and seconded the item and approved it by roll call. The vote record in the public minutes shows Board member Mead and Board member Wyatt voting yes; Mrs. King recorded a brief delay before saying yes; Dr. Howard also voted yes.
Administrators noted that nonpublic schools may opt in to receive some federal grant funds if they have qualifying students, and that the district is responsible for overseeing and documenting those expenditures. The contract and the vote did not include a dollar amount or programmatic detail in the public comments recorded at the meeting.
The agreement was listed on the meeting agenda as Item 4(b).
