Walpole schools open for 2025-26; enrollment near 3,800 and 22 new staff recognized

School administrators told the Walpole School Committee that the district welcomed students for the 2025-26 school year and that staffing and enrollment preparations are underway.
The district reported the central office opened Aug. 19; staff reported the Monday before students returned; students in grades 1-12 returned the day before the meeting and pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will return Sept. 2. An administrator said the district's official enrollment is "hovering right below 3,800" and that final numbers will be posted after ongoing registration is complete at the Sept. 12 meeting.
Administrators said 22 new staff attended a weeklong orientation, which included veteran staff presenters and recognition of new employees at an opening ceremony. The committee also recognized staff who received 25-year service pins: Michelle Camillo, Kathy Coleman, Jody Delpha, Elizabeth Giampietro, Tim Giblin, Karen O'Neil and Allison Wilson.
District communication noted the Walpole Road Race will be held Sept. 1 to benefit the high school's cross-country and track teams; proceeds support those athletic programs. Committee members thanked staff and the police department for support during opening and drop-off periods.
