Revere inspectional services reports housing, sanitation and code-enforcement activity; trash and overgrowth violations prominent
Summary
The inspectional-services monthly report showed routine food, pool and housing inspections and a large number of exterior sanitation violations, including 403 trash violations, 61 overflowing-dumpster citations and 121 overgrowth violations; interior housing inspections and certificate-of-fitness activity were also reported.
Michael Wells, health agent and director of inspectional services, presented the inspectional-services monthly report to the Revere Board of Health.
Wells reported activity across divisions: the interior housing division completed 128 certificates of fitness and 20 re-inspections; there were three new interior complaints and five complaints in process. The food-inspection division conducted 32 routine inspections, five re-inspections, four complaint inspections, two pre-opening inspections and two temporary food-service inspections. The exterior sanitation division reported a total of 403 trash violations, 61 overflowing-dumpster violations, 25 junk-heap/automobile graveyard violations, 121 overgrowth (unclean/unsanitary land) violations, five multiple-unregistered-vehicle violations, three rodent-harborage violations and two unsafe-structure violations.
Wells said the department continues standard enforcement and inspections; he did not advise any new policy changes during the report. The inspectional-services report preceded two licensing votes later in the meeting handled by the board.
