Pima County supervisors seek later study sessions, consent-agenda reforms and clearer agenda-setting

Pima County supervisors on Tuesday explored shifting meeting schedules, creating recurring study sessions and tightening consent-agenda procedures to shorten regular meetings and give the public more meaningful opportunities for input.

The conversation opened when Supervisor Hynes proposed changing the timing of regular board meetings and adding study sessions. "I was talking about revising our regular meeting schedules to a potentially different day, definitely a different time and also adding in study sessions if that's the will of the board," Hynes said.

Supervisor Allen said she supported study sessions as a forum for deeper discussion: "I think it would be great to have a space where we can take some of the presentations that are currently off on the existing agenda formats, move them to the study session so that we have an opportunity to have more engaging in-depth conversations around the climate plan, around the work around homelessness."
