Votes at a glance: York City Historical Architectural Review Board — Aug. 28, 2025

The York City Historical Architectural Review Board took the following formal actions at its Aug. 28, 2025 meeting:

1) Minutes — The board approved the corrected minutes from the Aug. 14, 2025 meeting after members amended language about a railing discussion at 211 South Beaver Street to reflect a historically profiled cap, base rail and inch-and-a-quarter square balusters rather than "typical 2 by 4 rails." A motion to accept the corrected minutes carried.

2) 113 & 115 South Pine Street — The board approved repainting of window trim at 113 and 115 South Pine Street and declined to approve aluminum quill wrapping of trim, citing preservation concerns and moisture intrusion risks. (See separate article for discussion.)

3) 270–272 West Market Street — The board approved replacement of nine second-floor windows and associated deck and rail work to address lead-based-paint hazards, contingent on the applicant researching feasible options to preserve or accurately replicate original jigsaw-cut spindles. The board preferred vented composite soffit material where available, with vented vinyl as a fallback. (See separate article for details.)

4) 38 North Broad Street — The board approved a rear-yard pole barn application, allowing the owner to choose either the submitted single-slope shed roof or, optionally, a double-slope gable roof. The owner later confirmed the structure will have a single-slope roof.
