Mayor Jamie Clary read a proclamation on Aug. 26 declaring September 2025 as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in Hendersonville and designating Sept. 9, 2025 as Suicide Prevention Awareness Day.
Daryl Bolden, Mid‑Cumberland regional director for the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network, said the state‑level nonprofit staffs 10 regional offices and provides trainings, crisis‑intervention resources and postvention support for organizations and schools. Clark Flatt (representing the Jason Foundation) and other Jason Foundation staff described the charity’s local roots in Hendersonville and its national work; speakers noted Tennessee’s passage of the Jason Flatt Act and the availability of the 988 crisis lifeline.
The proclamation recognized local work by the Jason Foundation — headquartered in Hendersonville — and the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network advisory council, and urged residents to share resources and learn warning signs. The mayor and staff took photos with foundation representatives after the presentation.
The proclamation does not create new city programs or funding; it is a formal recognition intended to promote awareness and connect residents to existing statewide and local services.
