The Bountiful City Council on Aug. 26 approved rebuilding a small pavilion at Fourth North Park and awarded the work to Launch Construction for $34,712.
Parks director Brock Hill told the council the pavilion—one of the smaller structures near the stage—has suffered water damage that will soon make it unsafe to use. Hill said the city had not budgeted the work in this year’s capital plan but believed there was sufficient funding within the parks or capital budgets to cover the cost; staff may return in the spring with a budget amendment.
Hill said Launch Construction was the low bidder, that the firm had worked for the city previously on other park projects, and that staff was comfortable with its scheduling and workmanship. Council members noted the pavilion is used during festivals and events and supported the recommendation.
A motion to approve the rebuild passed by voice vote.
