Pendergrass library reports election cancellation, seeks part-time clerks and promotes fall festival and car show

During the council’s Aug. 26 meeting the Pendergrass library gave its monthly report, announcing that the general municipal election in November was cancelled because three candidates qualified for three seats, and promoted upcoming community events and staffing needs.
A library representative reported that Laura Begley, Bob Carter and Holly Geiman qualified during the recent filing period. Because three candidates qualified for three positions, the representative said a general election will not be required. The representative also said the library checked out 10 items in August and that the library relocation/building setup is complete and ready for public use.
The library speaker said the city is recruiting for two part-time positions — a deputy city clerk and a court clerk — each expected to be about 25 hours per week, and that applications and resumes can be submitted by email or phone to city hall. The speaker asked council members to share the posting with potential applicants.
The library report included promotion of two fall events: a fall festival scheduled for Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Town Square near the amphitheater with vendor applications open through Sept. 1, and a car show planned for Oct. 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the same amphitheater area featuring American Street Brothers.
The library representative closed by thanking council members and reminding the public where to find library services at the new site.
