Commission waives stage fee for Stevensville Arts & Entertainment car show Nov. 1

Organizers of the Stevensville Arts & Entertainment (A&E) District car show asked the Queen Anne's County Commissioners on Aug. 26 for help and outreach for their Nov. 1 event. The commission voted to waive the county stage fee for the "historic Stevensville Arts and Entertainment District" car show on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Mike (Michael) Francis and Paul Plasic of the Kent Island Cruisers, and Rebecca (Becky) Jones of the A&E advisory board presented details about the planned event, which features two judged categories (a specialty vehicle area and a general/classic cars area), dash plaques, trophies donated by the Kent Island Cruisers and community programming including model-car painting for children, a skateboarding demonstration and live stage performances. Francis said "We have trophies donated by the Ken Island Cruisers" and asked the commission to waive the stage fee so performers could use the county stage.
A motion to waive the stage fee for the Nov. 1 event carried on a voice vote; no commissioner dissented on the record. The organizers said the event regularly draws about 100 cars and community partners and that they plan two display areas in town, including Christ Church and the train-station green.
Organizers urged commissioners to attend the event and to participate as judges if schedules allow. They also described outreach to local youth groups and performing arts groups to broaden participation and to use the event to share local history with attendees.
