Franklin County commissioners opened bids to replace the uninterrupted power supply that serves the county’s backup 911 center at a public meeting.
Procurement Director Robin Harmon told commissioners the purchase would replace the current unit that “did its job” during a recent power spike but now needs replacement. Harmon said the equipment will serve the county’s backup 9‑1‑1 operations in the Department of Emergency Services and that an insurance claim has been filed to help pay for the replacement.
The county recorded three bids during the public opening. The lowest apparent compliant bid was from OR Power LLC at $24,673.25. Trusted Power submitted a base bid of $26,750. Mission Critical Supply submitted a bid of $41,671.43. Controller Harold Wissinger announced the vendors and figures during the bid opening.
Commissioners and staff discussed next steps. County staff (identified in the meeting as Carrie) said the procurement team would return to the commission with a recommendation in one week. No formal award or contract action was taken at the meeting.
The procurement process will determine whether the county’s insurance proceeds cover replacement costs and whether the lowest bid meets the county’s technical specifications. Commissioners took no formal vote on award at this meeting; staff will present a recommendation and any proposed contract award at a future session.
