Shawnee County accepts single responsive bid for 9-1-1 console upgrade, allocates ARPA funds

The Shawnee County Commission on July 28 acknowledged a single responsive bidder, Zybex Systems Incorporated, for a project to replace aging consoles at the county—s main and backup 9-1-1 centers and approved the contract in a unanimous vote.
Shane Hooper, representing the Sheriff—s Office, described the project as a long-running priority to replace aging and failing equipment at the primary 9-1-1 center and to outfit a newly identified backup center. The backup center will be located at 1515 Saline, in space provided through coordination with county IT and facilities partners, he said.
The accepted bid of $1,030,903.05 will be funded from ARPA SLFRF interest funds, the commission record shows. County staff noted there was only one responsive bidder; other responding vendors did not meet specifications.
The motion to acknowledge the bid and proceed passed 3-0. The record does not document additional contract terms beyond the bid amount and funding source; commissioners approved the procurement without recorded dissent.
