El Mirage council introduces new police officers and parks staff

At its Aug. 18 meeting the El Mirage Common Council formally introduced a group of recently hired police officers and a new parks and recreation staff member; council members welcomed the hires but no formal hiring votes were recorded at the meeting.
The City of El Mirage Common Council on Aug. 18 introduced a group of newly hired police officers and a new Parks and Recreation staff member during its regular meeting.
Council members and the mayor welcomed the new police officers, who were presented by the police department with brief biographies and hometowns. The officers introduced or identified in the presentation were Bryce Briggs, John Keenan, Jack McCombs, Diego Perez, Ali Sabet, (identified in the meeting as) Officer San, John Van Brockwurst, Dylan Wendt and Police Assistant Roberto Reyes. The council also heard a staff introduction for Trina Miller, who will serve as management support specialist senior in the Parks and Recreation Department.
The police department presenter said Officer Bryce Briggs is a graduate of the West Valley Law Enforcement Training Academy and that Briggs previously served in the military and attended Arizona State University, studying criminal justice and criminology. The presenter described John Keenan as originally from Flagstaff with a background at Amazon and study in sports medicine at Northern Arizona University. Jack McCombs’s biography noted lengthy prior law-enforcement service including patrol, investigations, SWAT and training roles and a bachelor’s degree in applied management. Other new hires were described with short personnel notes about prior employers, local ties and personal interests.
Parks and Recreation Director Sean Van Roehn introduced Trina Miller as the department’s new management support specialist senior. Miller’s biography, read by Van Roehn, noted 14 years’ service as a 9-1-1 operator and dispatcher across Northern Arizona and Nevada, and experience in planning and development, facilities and civil engineering. Van Roehn said Miller most recently worked in the finance department of a city partner, Avanti Windows and Doors, and that Miller is “passionate about community engagement.”
No formal votes, employment contract texts, salary amounts, start dates, or personnel files were presented on the record during the introductions. Council members offered congratulations and welcome remarks.
The introductions took place near the start of the meeting as part of the agenda item labeled “introduction of new employees.”
