At an Aug. 12, 2025 workshop, members gave tentative approval to two enrollment manuals — the 2026-27 magnet program procedures and the 2026-27 controlled choice plan — and directed both to be forwarded to the full school board for final action.
Dawn Williams, supervisor of school choice, told the workshop she updated the application and lottery dates to reflect the 2025-26 school year and the 2026-27 lottery cycle, updated Matt Goldrick’s job title and added a footer noting that school boundaries "may change due to school board action." Williams summarized the changes as edits to the manuals for the 2026-27 school-year lottery and asked for tentative approval to send the documents on to the board.
Board member Hawkins raised a content change for the controlled choice manual, saying the list of social media under "promoting parental involvement" should drop Twitter because the platform "is no longer Twitter." Williams said she would remove Twitter in the copy that goes to the school board. Hawkins also pointed to a spelling/grammar correction — changing "withdrawal" from two words to one — which Williams said she would fix.
After the brief discussion, the workshop acknowledged the presenter’s request and recorded tentative approval to forward both manuals to the full school board for final consideration. No formal roll-call vote or mover/second was recorded in the transcript excerpt provided.
The workshop adjourned at approximately 2:06 p.m.
